The Finish

Here is the finish.  This process was very challenging and great fun.  The entire subject (the sunflowers) were masked off.  Then the background was done with subsequent pours of liquid acrylic/watercolor on wet paper (very messy but fun).  There are washes done over the background and water dropped to make blooms and the spray bottle is used a LOT!  Then the masking is removed and as you paint the subject, you use some of the same technique to make blooms.  When the subject is done, then you begin your edges of the subject with watercolor and acrylic mixtures.  This is done on damp paper also to soften the colors.

My next move when I get back from Morgantown is to attempt a figure using this technique.  I am very excited to try it out!!

Hello world!

This is my first blog!  Welcome to my new web site.  It was an educational experience for me to create my own site.  I am open to suggestions if you see anything that could be improved or changed.  Just leave your comments on this page or use the “Contact Me” page.  I will be blogging each week talking about upcoming workshops, or ongoing projects in my studio (pictures included).  I will also be commenting on things happening in the art world.  So, please check back and I can’t wait to hear what you all have to say.
